I absolutely love birds. They’re some of the most free-spirited animals you’ll ever see… maybe it’s because they can fly. And they’re the only ones I hear making happy noises in the wee hours of the morning. So naturally, when I came across Birdland Creations I was in love with the jewelry!  The designer, Ruth, separates her jewelry into seven galleries: serene, playful, comforted, loved, homey, happy, and young at heart. I think the names of the categories are pretty clever – the homey gallery has jewelry with cute little houses on it, and serene has nice little birdies. No matter which gallery you enter, you are sure to find something beautiful. Ruth uses metal clay to create her pieces, which turns into 99.9% fine silver when fired. Cool, huh? With this she sculpts mini masterpieces like the little birdies and houses, mice, and all sorts of other animals and objects!

I was lucky enough to review Ruth’s Songbird Necklace. It arrived in a beautiful box with her logo on it, as well as a calendar featuring an illustration of her cute birdie! The necklace itself was nothing less than stunning – the chain was like no other I have ever seen… very simple, yet of amazing quality. The bird on the necklace is so cute! My first thought was “Man, this is a heavy bird!”, but that comes from the birdie being solid silver, not that hollow stuff! It was easy to see that Ruth put a lot of time into the piece, from the little eyes on the bird to the wings and tail. I’m still amazed at how such flawless perfection was placed into such a little piece, but Ruth has mastered it.

Jewelry by Birdland Creations is DEFINITELY worth every penny. I doubt jewelry of such great detail would be found anywhere else. She’s amazing at her work, and every piece is as beautiful as the last. Her shop is definitely a must for the coming holiday season!
