Welcome, Little One: A Love Letter From Me to You by Sandra Magsamen
Sandra Magsamen never seizes to amaze me. After reading her book, Twinkle, Twinkle, You’re My Star, I instantly fell in love with her writing style and her book designs. Hannah is definitely going to enjoy her books just as much as I have. Therefore, when I had the opportunity to review more of her books, I was eager to open them up and read them to our unborn child. Welcome, Little One is not only a children’s book, but it is “The Ultimate Baby Gift.” Welcome, Little One has a hard cover, with peaceful colors, and the front cover has a mother with her baby. On the front cover is, also, a plus heart with the wording “Welcome, Little One.” The book is over-sized, which is great for sharing with your little one. Throughout the book are different surprises for your little one to interact with. Welcome, Little One has a soft baby blanket, pop-up hearts, a surprise letter in an envelope, and a musical lullaby. My favorite “surprise” is at the end. There is a pop-open shaped Earth with a heart in the middle and behind the Earth is a mirror. Your little one will enjoy all of the wonderful features.
What I enjoyed most about this book, was the different mom/baby characters. It wasn’t revolved around human mom/baby, but it includes baby elephants, pint-sized giraffes, tiny chicks, monkeys, and even bees. This book celebrates the miracles of babies from different aspects of life. The story line is great, it wasn’t too sappy, but it was sweet and personal. I recommend this book for ages 2-3, as they will be more interested and interactive with the book. With the story line, the wonderful pictures, and the lullaby song, I can see this book being read for years in our household.
